The Providence Stadium in Guyana was built in the year 2006 to host matches of the 2007 Cricket World Cup. The ground has a capacity of 15,000 spectators. The ground currently has both test & ODI status from ICC & therefore it can host all types of cricket matches. Government of Guyana built the stadium with financial assistance from the Government of India. Construction cost of the stadium is an estimated $25,000,000.

The stadium was built primarily to host World Cup matches. Six matches of the 2007 World Cup was played on this ground. The most memorable match of them all was certainly the one between Sri Lanka & South Africa where Sri Lankan pacer Lasith Malinga became the first bowler in history to take four wickets from four consecutive deliveries. The first test match on this ground was played in 2008 between West Indies & Sri Lanka. The stadium also acted as a venue for the ICC World T20 tournament in 2010.
